The Format
We will meet two times, yearly, for a minimum of five sessions, total. Our gatherings will begin on Wednesday evening, with supper, and conclude by noon on Sunday. Participants are expected to commit to the entire program, so this particular experience is most recommended for those who have worked, previously, with Malidoma. To commit to beginning is to commit to completion.
A note from Malidoma :
“The time for a vigorous act of devotion to, and embracing of the wisdom of indigenous Africa has come. After centuries of silence and in hiding, the powers and wisdom of the ancestors are rising up to lead the world into the next level of consciousness and spirituality. As we know, the continent is not just the birthplace of mankind, it is also the repository of profound unseen powers and technologies on standby to contribute to a radical healing change much needed in the world today. This calls for some militant initiative on the part of those in whose heart ancient Africa speaks, to check in for this exciting and compelling journey home where they can expect to find how much of the old in them has been waiting to burst in service of the world’s need to heal and to transform. This training is offered in response to that call.
Designed for those raised in cultures with a high dose of militantism who want to serve the purpose of this new era, this multi-part program is being created to lay the groundwork, deeply and personally, for a leap into the magical and spiritual technological legacies of our ancestors. Grounded in radical exploration of the elements of cosmology, Fire, Water, Earth, Nature, and Mineral, this program aims at enriching our working relationships with them in order to anchor ourselves more fully in this world and to be of greater service to all living beings. We will create, experience and learn to provide for others, ritual involving each element and its healing properties, thus fostering healing for ourselves, others, and our communities.
In addition, through the rituals of Ancestralizaton, we will manifest a response to our own desire for a deeper understanding of and more intimate daily interaction with the ancestors, those who have left the visible earth plane and now carry the responsibility to monitor our growth from the spirit world as we meet our duties in this world.
In our gatherings we will learn the basic skills of Cowry Shell Divination, in the style designed by Malidoma for individuals in the western world. We will create our individual divination kits and begin to discern the messages being sent through the interaction among shells, stones, bones and other significant symbols.
We will explore the art and science of Talisman making and the practical applications of these ancient representations of hidden power and protection. We will learn to apply these creative skills in our work with others who seek deeper meaning in their lives.
We will create ritual experiences which will address the particular needs of our growing community, embracing such issues as health, abundance, grief, growth.

Experiencing a personal divination with Malidoma is a beautiful, empowering and healing manifestation of spirit. It is an opportunity to hear direction from the realm of the ancestors and to connect, more deeply, with what you know “in your bones”.
Malidoma utilizes cowry shell divination for his sessions. You will be asked to spread a pile of shells, bones, stones, and other implements on a special “divination cloth.” This spread is what Malidoma will read and interpret to bring a message about your life and purpose for being on the planet at this time. The message will also be about finding balance with the elemental spirits of earth, water, fire, nature and mineral..
The fee for a personal session is $250. USD—divination fees must be paid in U.S. dollars! Your divination session must be prepaid before any appointment is scheduled. Once your payment is received, we will schedule your divination appointment. Divination payments are NON-REFUNDABLE!Monday, May 6th

Shell & Bone Divinations
Divination is a way of inviting novel and unexpected answers into situations that appear to be stuck or stagnant.
Zayin utilizes a cross-cultural form of shell & bone divination appropriate for our contemporary times. Born largely out of his own family lineage and ongoing relationships with diviners like Alwyn Thomas and Maldioma Somé, Zayin has developed his natural gifts in the arts of listening, sight, and presence. He brings all of these to bear in his answer sessions, where the client is asked to simply come with a question that is alive for them.
As a client you are given the opportunity to enter into the play of shells, elementals, and insights by asking questions… any questions… about anything and everything. Those things that keep you up at night and those things that get you out of bed in the morning.
Your questions come to life during these divination sessions in such a way that you are able to leave with concrete answers and clear actions with regard to how to proceed. What seem like obstacles quickly become invitations to participatein the larger world around you. Divination is a way of clarifying exactly what you need to do to take an active role in your life. Zayin sees this as Poetic Participation
